The Effects of 12-Week K-Bar Weight Training on the Body Alignment Changes of Junior Elite Athletes

Abstract
INTRODUCTION: To confirm the effects of 12-week K-Bar weight training on body alignment changes.
METHODS: The K-Bar weight training was applied to 18 junior elite athletes(age;14.25¡¾1.05 years, height; 160.53¡¾8.06cm, weight; 48.42¡¾8.18kg, BMI; 19.00¡¾1.98kg¡¤m2) at physical education middle schools in S City four times per week for 12 weeks. Changes to their height, trunk length, and weight were compared and analyzed before and after the training.
RESULTS: The subjects¡¯ height increased from 160.53¡¾8.06cm before the training to 161.14¡¾8.11cm(by about 0.38%) after the training in a statistically significant level(p<.01). Their trunk length also increased from 401.56¡¾55.54mm to 416.78¡¾64.58mm, but the increase was not statistically significant(p=.088). And their weight increased from 50.69¡¾10.36kg before the training to 53.98¡¾10.59kg after the training, and the increase was statistically significant(p<.01).

CONCLUSION: Possibility that acquiring the right posture through K-Bar weight training once a week for 12 weeks can have positive effects on body alignment.
